can atheists pray for other people? I have a bit of the theological question, friend of mine has gotten into a fancy drama school in London. Her problem is that at the moment she doesn't have any funding, she's asked me to include her in my prayers. Only what with being an atheist I don't pray. So my question is can an atheist prey for other people? And perhaps another important question can God hear the prayers of atheists?

… hmmm...i really dont know on this one...ur best bet is to find someone who does belive in God and ask them to pray on ur behalf for ur friend. He will still hear u, but i don't know how u would feel about praying to something u don't believe is there...xxx

Re: can atheists pray for other people? I suppose you can pray, but you wouldn't be praying to anyone... Hmmm... The best you can do is send positive thoughts her way and think of her.
I think that God can only hear you if you want him to. I believe that all faith is real and therefor so are all their Gods and Goddesses, but only the one you believe in takes note of you. Make sense?
Re: can atheists pray for other people? Prayers will only be heard if they are in accordance with God's will. If it's not God's will that she should get funding then it don't matter who prays nothing will be done.
That's just my two penny worth from a believer (who don't believe in Goddesses btw).
Re: can atheists pray for other people? I have to admit I'm a little bit confused here. If you are an athiest, that would mean that you don't believe that there is a higher power at all, so if you were to pray, then who would you be praying to? Honestly I think that since you're asking this that you probably believe that there is someone or something higher than us out there.
Anyway, in response to your question, yes, athiests can pray. God will hear you no matter what religion you are.
